Fresno Council Votes On Median OrdinancePosted: Feb 4, 2010 11:18 AM PST The Fresno City Council voted Thursday on an ordinance to regulate the time, place and manner in which people could occupy a city median. The Median Island Safety Ordinance passed in a 6-1 vote. The ordinance was introduced by City Council President Larry Westerlund, who made it clear in Thursday's meeting that the ordinance was in the public's best interest. Fresno City Council votes "No" To More Dumping In the Delta Posted: Jan 28, 2010 09:47 PM PST By Monty Torres It's unanimous! The Fresno City Council voted seven to nothing Thursday night to strongly object to a Sacramento County request to dump more waste water into the delta. Sacramento County's Regional Waste Water Treatment Facility wants to increase the amount of waste water they discharge into the Sacramento River, from 181 to 218 million gallons per day. They've applied to the state water control board for permission, but Fresno City Council President Larry Westerlund is leading the charge to block that application with a resolution opposing the request. >more

The City of Fresno Public Works will be doing street improvement on Shaw Ave.The eastbound and westbound lanes of Shaw Avenue between Highway 168 and just west of Blackstone Avenue will be impacted by lane and ramp closures during scheduled road re-paving work starting Sunday, October 11.
